Cannabis Wholesaler canymed Joins the BPC Board

The wholesaler and manufacturer of medical cannabis products, canymed GmbH, represents the Grünhorn Group in the Federal Association of Pharmaceutical Cannabinoid Companies (BPC).

The Grünhorn Group and its affiliated company, Canymed GmbH, are now not only members but also actively represented on the Executive Board of the Federal Association of Pharmaceutical Cannabinoid Companies (BPC). "We are thrilled by the professional work and goals of the BPC and are eager to actively support them in the future. The BPC offers a unique platform for companies, physicians, pharmacists, and patients through its well-grounded political and scientific work," said Matthias Fischer, Managing Director of Canymed GmbH.

United for More Research and Patient Safety

The BPC is the leading voice of the pharmaceutical cannabis sector in Germany. It serves its members as a forum for information, exchange, and shaping opinions. As a competent and influential partner, the BPC actively advocates for its members’ interests with policymakers, administrators, external stakeholders, and the public. By pooling the expertise of its members, the BPC promotes optimal cultivation and supply structures for medicinal cannabis in Germany, securing a strong position with decision-makers.

The shared goal is to ensure the supply of cannabis-based medicines under the best possible conditions, significantly improving patients’ quality of life. The reliable provision of high-quality, medically approved cannabis is a key priority. Additionally, the BPC and the Grünhorn Group jointly advocate for expanded research into medicinal cannabis. Grünhorn actively supports cannabis therapy through its Grünhorn Academy and in-house research laboratory. With its own studies and educational events, the Grünhorn Group has contributed for years to the growing recognition of cannabis therapy among physicians and policymakers.

Symposium "Cannabinoids in Medicine 2024": Advocating for Greater Boldness in Cannabis Therapy

On the second weekend of November, the BPC hosted the symposium "Cannabinoids in Medicine 2024." Key industry figures participated, including scientific director Prof. Kirsten Müller-Vahl and speakers such as Dr. Peter Cremer-Schaeffer, Prof. Dr. Oliver Tolmein, Dr. Christiane Neubaur, Dr. Dennis Stracke, Dr. med. Knud Gastmeier, Tobias Köhler, and Dr. Franjo Grotenhermen. Partners ACM and Medical Tribune also supported the event. Held at Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie, the symposium welcomed 150 attendees both in-person and online to discuss critical topics surrounding cannabis therapy. A key takeaway from the discussion was a call to the attending physicians: following the recent G-BA ruling allowing the prescription of medicinal cannabis without prior insurance approvals, doctors are encouraged to be more confident in prescribing these treatments.
