Founded in 2020 in Leipzig, this innovative online pharmacy was already fulfilling one in four medical cannabis prescriptions in Germany before partial legalization in 2023. Following the removal of cannabis from the Narcotics Act in April 2024 and the subsequent lowering of barriers for patients (including those with common conditions like migraines), the order volume has multiplied. This increase has been managed through a disruptive automation approach, a digital warehouse, and an expanded workforce. Thanks to its comprehensive offerings and innovative strategies, Grünhorn has established itself as a pioneer in the field of medical cannabis.
With a wide range of cannabis flowers from various manufacturers, Grünhorn Apotheke provides physicians and patients with an exceptional selection to ensure the best possible therapy. Through close collaboration with renowned growers and its own research into terpenes and active ingredients, Grünhorn has developed proprietary cannabis strains specifically tailored to meet the needs of its patients.
In addition to cannabis flowers, Grünhorn Apotheke also offers its own full-spectrum extracts and capsules for oral consumption. These products are noted for their longer duration of effect and are particularly discreet in use—ideal for patients for whom vaporizing or inhaling cannabis is not an option. All proprietary products are manufactured under the strictest quality controls to ensure the highest pharmaceutical standards. The pharmacy is also deeply involved in its own research and education on cannabis-related topics. The Grünhorn Academy and its in-house laboratory contribute to further exploring and making the therapeutic potential of medical cannabis accessible.
The independent contract pharmacy is the Paunsdorf Pharmacy, located in the Paunsdorf Center in Leipzig, and managed by Kirsten Fritsch.
Every fourth prescription for cannabis flowers goes through us.
This makes us the largest German pharmacy for medicinal cannabis and the first to meet the high demand through automation.

CanDoc
Our aim is to bring patients together with experienced and independent doctors - in an uncomplicated, efficient way that complies with data protection regulations. Candoc expressly does not see itself as a teleclinic: we do not make any diagnoses ourselves and do not employ any doctors directly.

Instead, we work with a network of partner practices and freelance doctors who decide on their own responsibility whether treatment with medicinal cannabis is medically indicated.
A special CanDoc service is the qualified electronic signature (QES), which can be used to digitally sign medical documents in a legally compliant manner. In this way, we enable completely digital processing - from initial contact to issuing prescriptions - without any detours via paper.
CanDoc stands for transparency, responsibility and service quality in the growing medical cannabis supply market.
