What the Typical Cannabis Patient Looks Like

Study of Approximately 3,000 Patients Dispels Stereotypes

The typical German cannabis patient is neither a chronic user nor unemployed: 8 out of 10 respondents are employed. This is revealed by a study conducted by Grünhorn, which surveyed around 3,000 cannabis patients in its second part.
The study's shocking result for cannabis opponents is that 62 percent of the 2,827 respondents reported being employed. Additionally, two percent are employers, ten percent are self-employed, and three percent are civil servants. Another four percent are students. Only eleven percent of respondents are unemployed, with an additional three percent actively seeking employment at the time of the survey. An extra six percent of participants are retirees.
“This clearly shows that the stigmatized cannabis patient does not exist! Persistent lack of expert knowledge leads to stereotypes and prejudices. Treatment with a cannabis-based medicine is a genuine alternative, especially compared to opioids. It is no coincidence that 98 percent of study participants reported an improvement in their quality of life," explains Dr. Nadine Herwig, Head of the Grünhorn Academy.
The multi-part study was conducted by the Grünhorn Academy, the educational and training platform of Grünhorn, the largest German online pharmacy for prescription cannabis. In its second part, participants were asked about their demographic group, age, changes in their quality of life since starting cannabis-based medicine, the side effects or unwanted effects experienced during therapy, when these occurred, and how significantly they affected the respondents.
